Manny Pacquiao Latest News

President Aquino congratulated reigning WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao on his unanimous decision win over American Shane Mosley in Las Vegas.
In a statement, Mr. Aquino lauded Pacquiao for once again showing the Filipinos' stability, strength and courage to the whole world. He also said the Filipino world champion manifested the Filipinos' discipline, determination and skill.
“(His successful title defense) was made even brighter by his choice of wearing yellow boxing gloves that symbolize his being a participant in our fight against poverty. Despite his success, Manny doesn't forget to look back to help his countrymen that have been bogged down by problems,” Mr. Aquino said.
President Aquino on the eve of the fight wished Pacquiao well, but missed the bout as he had to participate in a retreat in this city with his fellow leaders in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
“He's aware that there are fights that don't end in the ring; that he has an obligation to his mother land, wherein concern and good service his to fellowmen are his primary weapons,” President Aquino said of Pacquiao, an incumbent congressman representing the province of Saranggani.
“Walang dudang isang bayani si Manny Pacquiao: and Pound for Pound King na patuloy na naghahatid ng papuri sa bansang Pilipinas, at bumubuhay sa diwa at dangal ng lahing Pilipino (There is no doubt that Manny Pacquiao is a hero: the Pound for Pound King who continues to bring praises to the Philippines and who embodies the ideals and honor of the Filipino race),” he added.
