Congress quitter Jagan Mohan Reddy is gearing up for the Kadapa by polls on Sunday in Andhra Pradesh. A litmus test for his newly formed party is his family stronghold. But the Congress is leaving no stone unturned to defeat him.It's a battle Jagan Reddy has long been waiting for. The son of late chief minister YSR Reddy is all set to take on the Congress in by-polls on May 8. After resigning from the congress in November 2010, Jagan Reddy floated his own political party, the YSR Congress. Jagan is contesting for the Lok Sabha seat from Kadapa, his mother Vijayalaxmi is contesting for the assembly seat from the same district, a family stronghold. Jagan is leaving no stone unturned claiming himself as the sole heir to YSR legacy."This is a battle between Sonia Gandhis betrayal and YSR Reddy's credibility. The Congress has split our family and now we all must avenge justice," Jagan said.The Congress meanhwile is not wanting to take any chances. Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy himself is leading the campaign against late YSR's son.

"Why did he leave the Congress even when they offered him a central minister's post? It's his greed for the Chief Minister's post that has brought these unnecessary elections on us," Kiran Kumar Reddy said.

Most of the political parties are seeing this as a crucial election. A record amount of Rs 2.73 crore has already been seized from Kadapa district. The campaign also saw The Telugu Desam chief being allegedly attacked by Jagan loyalists.

You can love him or hate him but definitely not ignore him. That's how most political observers choose to describeJagan Mohan Reddy. With a section of Congress MLAs openly supporting his campaign, it seems like he is crowned the King of Kadapa. Jagan Reddy will be looking at giving the congress a few more sleepless nights.
